Inspiration from Casa Gangotena

One of the best parts of working within the flower industry is the opportunity to travel and meet the farmers and their families. These trips, while super interesting and beautiful, are normally rustic trips with large family dinners. This past weekend however, I got the once-in-a-lifetime chance to stay in the ultra-luxurious Casa Gangotena Boutique Hotel while visiting farms near Quito, Ecuador.
Casa Gangotena is unique among the world of boutique hotels in that every room is filled with beautiful Ecuadorian roses, lilies, and orchids. Beautiful antique mahogany furniture is tastefully decorated with simple, understated vases that are filled with a single variety of flower. This minimalist approach to decoration allows the beautifully upholstered furniture and elegant rugs to speak for themselves. As a whole, Casa Gangotena awes with tall ceilings, gold plated detailing, and impressive crown molding. However, the large beautiful arrangements of flowers, add a touch of calmness and life that keeps Casa Gangotena from feeling less like a historical “Night at the Museum” and more like a sweet summer night in a garden where all the senses are relaxed.
Casa Gangotena illustrates how to use natural colors; in the glass ceiling lounge, guests enjoy a mix of orchids and lilies in a variety of hues from bright reds and oranges to soft pastels. The color of the blooms is paired with rustic clay pots and neutral upholstered chairs and sofas.
Long stem white Asiatic Lilies welcome visitors into the rich dark wood pub.
