How to Reuse your Valentine's Flowers

How to reuse your Valentine's flowersAs we all know by now, Roses are a staple for Valentine's Day. You might have been given Roses as a gift for this special holiday that conveyed love and affection from your husband, wife, family member, or even a friend. But after a few days have gone by, those beautiful blooms start to wilt and die. So, you may be wondering what can you do to avoid discarding them and put your leftover Valentine’s Day roses to good use?

That's the reason why our blog is all about sharing these three creative ways to use those beautiful flowers before you toss’em! This way you not only get to enjoy them as the thoughtful gift they are, but you can extend the gift even further.

Framed Pressed Flowers

You'll be in love with the elegance behind this DIY project! A framed pressed flower art is such a great way to still appreciate the beauty of your flowers and give them a vintage feel. The best thing about it is that the flowers will last for weeks or even months, so you can redecorate as you wish thorough out time. And it can even be hung or have it standing on your living room table!
Here is what you'll need:

  • Fresh flowers
  • Glass frame
  • Paper towels
  • Books (or something heavy for pressing flowers)
  • Clear-drying glue
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Trim down any of the flowers that you want to press. Cut the stems as short as possible and remove any leaves as well. You want the flower to be as thin and easy-to-press as possible.
  2. Lay them out on a paper towel for pressing. Make sure none of the flowers are touching one another.
  3. Cover the flowers with another paper towel so that they're completely covered by the paper towel.
  4. Put the flowers in between the pages of a heavy book. If you don't have one big book, stack smaller ones on top of each other. Let the flowers dry out for a few days.
  5. Check your flowers. If all the moisture is gone, then they're good to go.
  6. Take them out of the paper towel and decide where you're going to place them in your glass frame.
  7. To hold them in place, use a clear glue to adhere them to the glass
  8. After the flowers are glued on, add on the second piece of glass and slide into your frame.
  9. Hang your frames and enjoy!
