What to Expect When Your Ranunculus Arrive
Ranunculus can look surprisingly small and tight when they first come out of the box. Do not let that fool you. These blooms are just getting started. Give them time to hydrate and open and the transformation is truly remarkable. A closed ranunculus bud and a fully open ranunculus bloom are almost unrecognizable as the same flower. The difference is breathtaking, and it happens within a day or two of proper care.
Like all farm-fresh flowers, ranunculus need a little time to settle after their journey before they look their best. They may look a little tired when they first arrive. That is completely normal. Fresh water and a cool environment are all they need to come to life.
Step-by-Step Care Instructions
1. Unpack promptly. Remove your ranunculus from the packaging as soon as they arrive. Do not leave them sitting in the box.
2. Trim the stems. Cut 1 to 2 inches off the bottom of each stem at a 45-degree diagonal angle. Ranunculus stems are soft and delicate, so use sharp scissors or floral shears for a clean cut. A clean cut is especially important for this variety.
3. Use cool water with floral preservative. Fill your vase with cool, clean water and add floral preservative if you have it. The preservative helps fuel the blooming process and keeps the water fresh longer, which is particularly beneficial for ranunculus.
